Xoloitzcuintli Overview

Origin: One of the world’s oldest and rarest breeds, the Xoloitzcuintli (or Xolo) is native to Mexico and dates back over 3,000 years, revered by the Aztecs and other indigenous groups.

Size: Comes in three sizes: toy (10-15 pounds), miniature (15-30 pounds), and standard (30-55 pounds).

Lifespan: 13-18 years.

Temperament: Xolos are known for their calm demeanor, intelligence, and loyalty. They are alert and make excellent watchdogs.

Care Needs

  • Diet: Should be fed a well-balanced diet that fits their size and energy level.
